First skating in the Czech Republic in November 2007 - "First-On-Ice" contest resultsThis winter's first natural ice skaters reported on 18th November19.11.2007This season's winner is Radek Mikulas among men, the pond Vojensky rybnik near Litomerice, approx. 500 metres round. Anna Stodolova won the women's contest on two ponds in Krkonose, and the Mikulas sisters Helena and Martina were first among juniors.
Details about the ponds:
In two regions, the ice was solid enough to allow pleasant and safe skating. One is "Vojensky rybnik" in Litomerice area, approx. 60 kms/40 miles N of Prague.
Several ponds in the foothills of Krkonose were also good skating rinks: Factory pond in Studenec, and a half-mile long pond near the RR station Martinice, all approx. 130 kms/80 miles NE of Prague.

The first skater on natural ice will win this year's contest. To enter, send the photograph of your skating to jan@klikni.cz within three days form the event, with the date, place, length of your trip and possibly some interesting observations. The natural ice in the Czech and Slovak Republics as well as areas along the Czech border is good to enter.
Any discovered skating opportunities will be placed to the Czech section LEDOVE ZPRAVODAJSTVI. English summary will also be updated whenever we have new information on skating.
