Spring Time SKATING on Natural Iceas on March 23 - will this season ever end?20.3.2006Prague:
Very good skating on lakes and ponds. The Hafn bay under Vysehrad is still o.k,. as well, but the river water steals the ice quickly.
Šeberák, the large pond in Kunratice, just by the last stop of the bus No. 114 provides good skating. Nordic skates are better to use, but even hockey players may have fun. A bit rouh ice, but well skatable. GO better in the morning, as the ice becomes softer with the strong sun during the day. Thick ice and safe. Other ponds and lakes in Prague and east of Prague are more or less same.
Lakes in the colder areas of the country will be skatable later, as there is either a lot of snow, or thick layer of soft ice which will settle down in a few days.
Lipno: covered by snow, unskatable
